So, you want to boost your self-esteem, but you want to go beyond the basics by finding tips that are
scientifically founded. You’re in luck because feeling good about yourself is so much more beneficial
than you even know. The following five tips help you boost your self-confidence quickly and easily.
You’ll discover a world of difference in how good they make you feel right away.

Master Self-Esteem 101

The right tools and skills help you master the art of self-confidence. For example, if you’re male, an
electric back hair shaver works wonders. If you’re female, a new shade of lipstick can make you feel
like a million bucks. Knowing what works and doesn’t work for you and your self-confidence is a
matter of trial and error.

Tried and True Tips That Work

Ready to take the self-esteem high road? Then here are five simple and efficient ways to boost your
confidence:

1. Learn a new skill.
Researchers at the Department for Business, Innovation, and Skills found that the people they
studied who learned a new language or updated their computer skills had a significant boost of
confidence.
In fact, its comparable to receiving a raise at work for demonstrating positive behavior. So, the next
time you want to feel better about yourself, crack open a book or turn on YouTube and watch some
How-To videos. Once you start mastering new tasks, you’ll feel a boost of happiness and confidence.
2. Smile.
Amy Cuddy, a social psychologist, found that people who display “happy body language” through
smiling and standing up straight with their shoulders back, produce less cortisol which is a stress
hormone.
So, the next time you feel like you’re going to scream, smile instead and feel better quickly. You’ll be
surprised how effective this tip is. Smiling has also been known to make you appear more attractive
and younger to other people. If that wasn’t reason enough to smile, nothing is!
3. Exercise.
Physical activity helps release endorphins, the feel-good chemicals inside your brain. Studies
involving children and adolescents consistently show that exercise helps shape confidence. A study
published in PLoS One’s electronic journal suggests the intervention of physical activity alone is
enough to change how children and adolescents feel about themselves. The earlier you start an
exercise regimen, the better.
4. Wear cologne or perfume.
It may sound like a strange concept, but it’s not. A Journal of Cosmetic Science study found that men
who wore cologne felt more confident and attractive. This was even the case after the smell factor
was removed.
Subjects still displayed signs of high confidence. Spritz yourself with a few squirts of your favorite
cologne or perfume and note how confident you feel. You’re ready to take on the world when you
feel as if you look and smell good to other people.
5. Wear the right clothes.
The clothes really do make the man or woman. Professor Karen J. Pine studied a group of people
whom she asked to wear superhero clothing while spending time with their peers.
What she noticed was that there was a distinct correlation with the clothing and how the subjects
felt while wearing it. The next time you need a boost of confidence, don your favorite superhero
shirt, socks or hat and see how you feel!

Superstar Beyoncé is very outspoken on the subject of self-esteem. In fact, she states that how you
feel about yourself is completely on you. It isn’t up to someone else to tell you who you are. She told
GQ magazine this a while back.

Actress Emma Stone suggests treating you the way you would your own son or daughter. If you’re
not taking care of yourself and being gentle with the criticism, you need to think about how you
would deal with a child and adjust your attitude accordingly.
You don’t need to be a celebrity to feel good about yourself. You’ll find people all over the world
sharing their secrets for greater confidence and belief in one’s self and abilities. Take Karen
Salmonsahn for example.

She’s built a following because of her take on happiness and self-confidence. Her books, websites,
and Facebook graphics are shared over and over again. It’s yet another way that people can feel good
about themselves by sharing what they’ve learned with others.

Boost your self-confidence quickly and easily by applying the advice given above to your life right
