Radiation and sperm health

WaveWall has discovered that 88% of men keep their phone in their pocket when on the go. Worryingly 63% of those surveyed didn’t know that phone radiation can affect sperm health and, perhaps more shockingly, three quarters aren’t concerned!
Despite the younger generation generally carrying their phone in their pocket, they are the most ignorant when it comes to fertility and mobile phone awareness with 67% not realising that there is a connection.

Three of the prime causes of male infertility are reduced sperm motility, poor sperm viability and low testosterone levels.

Scientific studies on mobile phone radiation

Scientific studies demonstrate that mobile phone radiation can cause all three, and most people don’t know that faraday material is an easy way to block out EMFs.

Dr Amin Gorgy, Fertility Consultant at The Fertility & Gynaecology Academy (fertility-academy.co.uk) adds, “Several studies have shown a negative impact of low-level electromagnetic radiation (EMR) on the sperm count, motility, viability
and normal morphology. Increasing evidence has supported a negative effect, particularly on progressive motility and sperm DNA fragmentation due to the enhancement of mitochondrial reactive oxygen species generation by humanspermatozoa. Progressive  motility is an important factor to determine the sperm ability to fertilize the egg. Increased level of DNA fragmentation can reduce
fecundity and fertilization even through IVF and increases the risk of miscarriage.”

Those who are slightly older – aged 26–34 – are most savvy that mobiles can be linked to male infertility problems with 41% recognising the issue. So it’s no surprise that they are the most uneasy about this and would be most inclined to
lay out ground rules to follow or create a list of banned activities, if trying to conceive.
Amongst those in relationships or married and trying for a baby, a quarter would make an effort to not keep their phone near their testes as well as eating food that promotes healthy sperm. Even more of this group think that tight boxers are best avoided.

Positive thinking could be a reason why we are so complacent though with a third being ‘optimistic that they would be able to conceive’ even if they discovered that the man had fertility issues. Despite the real issue of male infertility, only a few more (37%) stated that they would consider buying a product in order to safeguard sperm from phone radiation. So why aren’t more people
thinking about their future and having a family?

“It’s very easy to get caught up in the here and now with many not thinking about fertility until they reach the point at which they would like to start a family. We want to educate people from an earlier age, so that they are aware that they need
to start taking measures when they are younger in order to give men the best chance when they want to conceive,” comments Harry Gardiner, Founder of WaveWall.

With the anti-radiation element incorporated into the striking design, just making a simple choice of using a WaveWall phone case can help prevent men having to suffer through infertility due to mobile phones. It works by blocking the electromagnetic rays on the side facing inwards, to shield the testes, whilst the other side allows for data, calls and texts to be sent and received.
We urge men to not leave it until it’s too late and hope that their partners will help them make sensible choices.

WaveWall anti-radiation phone cases are compatible with most Apple and Android devices and start at £29.99. To see all the available models please visit www.wavewallcases.com
