Hi, my name is Mandy. I have come a long way since my teens/twenties when I was depressed, emotionally ‘all-over-the-place’ and very insecure. I wish I could say I never feel insecure or experience self doubt anymore but at least I am a vastly improved version of my younger self in terms of self awareness, mental resilience and knowing what makes me happy (most of the time).

This blog is all about the lessons I have learned along the way- personally and professionally, the mistakes I’ve made and the trial and error process of life. Learning all the time!

A tricky childhood and some challenging health issues  along the way have given me a deeper perspective on life. Being so aware of how easily life can end, has motivated me to be more present in my life and to take life less seriously.

What is cognitive behavioural therapy?

I believe that my upbringing (which was tough), depression and health issues have been partly responsible for my success in counselling others. Dealing with trauma and successfully navigating life’s challenges has definitely helped me to be more empathic towards others. I use a mixture of psycho-dynamic counselling and cognitive behavioural therapy as well as my own personal blend of compassion, personal life experience and empathy.

I also offer a bespoke mental health service to those requiring therapy in the privacy of their own homes. I am also able to make referrals where necessary and provides comprehensive support for those seeking help on issues such as: Anxiety such as social anxiety, health anxiety and generalized anxiety disorder), addiction, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder and psychosis.

I run my own private practice in Bramley, near Guildford Surrey and also ran clinics for the National Health Service twice weekly until December 2017 at: Mind Matters – Walton on Thames (Surrey and Borders NHS).
