A Newcastle-based start-up who are committed to changing how women feel when they experience hairloss is looking for someone to front its campaign to raise awareness of alopecia and hairloss.

An estimated 8 million women in the UK have hair-loss, and the causes range from chemotherapy induced loss to alopecia (which affects 2 in every 1,000 people) and even stress.

Now, The Wonderful Wig Company is encouraging people to send or tag them in before and after photographs using the hashtag #hairwin as opposed to hair-loss.

“Our aim is to make people feel fabulous again,” says Nicola Wood, founder of The Wonderful Wig Company, “but I’m also eager to support women in the hair-loss community by sharing experiences, advice, support and now our before hair-loss and after hair-loss photographs.”

Founded by Nicola in 2017 after her own experience with cancer in 2016 – The Wonderful Wig Company offers both wigs and hairstyling combined to help people regain their confidence and self-esteem during hair-loss.

Finding good wigs, more so a good service, was so difficult and the options I found available were so old-fashioned! I was only in my 30s at the time, and I thought – there must be thousands of women feeling like me. I founded The Wonderful Wig Company after my recovery because I wanted to help people access good quality wigs and up-to-date hairdressing. I’ve been a hairdresser for 23 years, so it made perfect sense.”

If selected to be one of the faces of the campaign, you will win:

  • A oneyear contract as the official face of The Wonderful Wig Company
  • Four human hair wigs, 1 per season, each worth up to £2,000
  • Media call, photo opportunities and promotional activity with The Wonderful Wig Company

“Our aim is to help those in the hair loss community to feel fabulous again. That’s why we’d love to have a real member of that community to be our first ever ‘face of The Wonderful Wig Company,” explains Nicola Wood, “if you have a positive outlook and can support and champion other women experiencing hair loss, then send us your photographs!”
