How to Go About Self-Realization and Self-Esteem

Everybody is born different with different capabilities, traits, and characters. So they reason and behave differently. As Nelson Ellis said – “being different gives the world color”. But it is important to realize that the type of environment that one lives has a strong influence on how much of our own ‘color’ we can portray. Some authentic traits and qualities could, therefore, be upheld and blocked.

By taking a personality test, one can know more about who they truly are and the role they need to play in society. If you are looking for ways to discover your true self or to boost self-esteem, here are some of the things you can do:

Recognize your strengths and focus on them

One problem with people who have low esteem is that they devalue themselves. Remember that the moment you deem yourself useless, so will the rest of the people around you. Also, you need to understand that when it comes to strengths, it does not mean the ability to speak the loudest in order to beat someone. Your vitality can be driven by anything from your talents, gifts or even knowledge. The moment you find out what you are good at, put all your focus on it and don’t let anybody get you off that path.

Be kind to yourself

Most people who struggle with self-esteem despise themselves. That is because they compare themselves with other people and believe that they deserve to be in their unfortunate situation. Remember that whatever you feed your subconscious mind turns out to be real in most cases.

Treat yourself with care and respect – don’t be afraid to look good. Take care of your hygiene plus avoid things that may lead you to be angry at yourself. Live within your limits because there is nobody that you need to impress by going against your core values. As the English poet John Milton said – “nothing profits more than self-esteem, grounded on what is just and right”.

Don’t dwell on the past mistakes

Regrets are the number one enemy for any person. That is because they put fear into your mind that you will always fail. As a result, you block yourself even before doing anything. People around you usually don’t help either as they like judging others according to what they have done. If you stop bothering about others’ judgments and dwelling on past mistakes, you will see how life will be improving faster than you ever imagined.

Conclusion

Self-esteem and self-realization are one of the best things that one can ever work on. Some of the most successful people are doing better not because they are unique but because they have trained themselves to focus on what makes them strong, not wrong. The public is an important factor to consider when it comes to being confident about yourself. There will always be people spreading hurtful things about you. But if you don’t pay attention to it, then you are already one step ahead of finding yourself.
