How to lose weight without working out

If you want to lose weight, you must exercise. This is one of the biggest lies of our times. While exercising is one of the best things you can do for your health, it’s not mandatory for losing weight. According to a recent study, working out cannot protect you from the harmful effects that sugar and fat have on your weight. 

The most effective way of losing extra pounds is actually to create a calorie deficit in your body. Eat fewer calories than your body is burning each day. For most people, that means eating 1500 calories for women and 2000 calories for men. But will that be enough if you are overweight? 

Here are 5 extra things you can do to help your body shed even more fat; 

1.Get enough sleep 

Getting at least 7 hours of quality sleep every day is not only important for your mind but your body as well. When you don’t get enough sleep, the body produces stress hormone cortisol that makes you hoard weight, eat more and crave weird stuff. Your body needs plenty of rest to repair itself and produce the good hormones that give you energy and increase your metabolism. 

2. Get a diagnosis 

If you have gained a lot of weight over a short period or you can’t seem to lose any despite strict diet and exercise, you need a diagnosis. Sometimes, your weight gain is as a result of a hormonal problem, thyroid issues, insulin resistance and even liver issues. If you don’t get medical help with such issues, no amount of exercise will work.

Exercise may not be a requirement for losing weight but it’s something you should do anyway. The muscle build up you achieve from lifting weights actually helps you to burn calories even when you are sleeping. And if for nothing else, exercise keeps your heart healthy and your joints moist.
