Have you ever considered an open relationship? I have met many clients who have tried open relationships and some seem to have just the right balance. There is always the possibility though that one or both of you may end up preferring another partner and this inevitably will cause problems. in fact, in most cases, the end result has been divided loyalties.

Inviting added stress into a monogamous relationship

Being open and communicating regularly goes some way to mitigating the added complexity of open relationships. Some experts question whether we are meant to be monogamous. Affairs are common as they provide excitement and a feel-good factor that can disappear after complacency sets in a relationship.

Is monogamy outdated?

Monogamy is the ideal for many people but it does come with drawbacks. Boredom, repetitiveness and complacency are poison to relationships and we all need to put regular effort into our relationships. The elements of fun and novelty can’t be underestimated when it comes to keeping love fresh.

I was asked to provide my opinion on open relationships and you can read the article below – although it was written a few years ago, the content is still relevant today.
