We all face low points in our lives. No one’s low points is a reason to feel shame and no one should have to wallow in their low point forever. Everyone deserves help.

The problem is finding that help isn’t always easy. When you are battling addiction, it is hard to overcome it alone. It is good that you don’t have to.

There are many potential substance abuse treatment plans that are available. Below, we will help guide you in finding the right treatment plan for you.

Understanding Substance Abuse Treatment Plans

There are very few substance abuse situations that are 100 percent alike. As such, there needs to be more than one single treatment plan.

These 6 plans have a lot of details and layers to them, so further research will help.

  1. Detoxification

Often called detox, this is a process where professionals ween the substance abuser off of their drug of choice. This can be a painful process, as withdrawals are dangerous.

Often, treatment combines detox with a method to keep the abuser off of the substance once they have been clean.

  1. Inpatient Treatment

Inpatient treatment is the most intensive care and involves keeping the patient under constant supervision and 24/7 treatment.

This will often be in a hospital or specialized ward.

  1. Residential Treatment

Residential treatment is for severe cases that either can’t or won’t leave the comfort of their home. This treatment provides a lot of the same care as the inpatient treatment but delivered to your home.

This can help patients feel safe as they go through the treatment. A familiar environment helps smooth over an addiction treatment plan.

  1. Partial Hospitalization Programs

Partial hospitalization is a great middle-ground program. It gives patients the mobility to leave the treatment center.

This keeps the day-to-day treatment plan of both inpatient and residential plans but also does away with the formal idea of a single treatment area.

This is often for patients who have no need for absolute watchful care but still need a potent schedule.

  1. Outpatient Programs

Outpatient programs are for patients that do not need an intensive structure for treatment without removing the structured treatment altogether.

As such, the treatment structure is not daily and is often limited to scheduled doctor visits and therapy sessions.

They can be intensive enough to push for a more weekly schedule or relaxed enough to separate treatment as the patient sees fit.

  1. Support Groups, Sober Live-In Homes, and Therapy

Often used as capstones for a treatment plan or as treatment plans themselves for more minor patients, there are plans such as support groups, live in homes, and therapy.

Support groups offer the human experience without a medical connection. These are often ex-addicts who share their trauma and show support for those going through a similar process.

Sober live-in homes are residences where several recovering substance abusers cooperate in a living situation to help them understand each other, themselves, and how to live a normal life.

Therapy is a key additive throughout the treatment plan process. It helps break down trauma, showcase the issues that lead to substance abuse, and puts patients in the right perspective for healing.

Places for Treatment

Even if you know what kind of treatment would be best for you or your loved one, it may not be obvious where to go for the best care. You need a center that helps you by providing a treatment centered around you.

Places like Alo House dual diagnosis rehab are excellent choices for treatment. These places advertise and specialize in treatment that brings to light the patient’s needs.

When dealing with abuse, you need a helping hand. A good treatment center is a guide, not an automatic fix.
