Look After Yourself

You’re in charge, you’re the boss and who is going to be there when you are sick and cannot take on your usual responsibilities? Many people ride the stress-wave for far too long and their bodies eventually crash – burn out hits with a vengeance and these stress addicted people are forced to take a break. Don’t allow yourself to get that far along where your body is calling the shots. Prevention is better than cure, as they say.

It makes sense to look after yourself. Modern society pushes us to meet deadlines, keep others happy and keep the money coming in. Many of us forget to maintain a balance and we end up paying the price by ending up with stress induced illnesses. I say “to hell” with all the pressure and expectations once in a while – downsize, minimise and learn to say “no).

If you work for a company – never forget that the company will always be there but there is only one YOU. You cannot be replaced. Eat well, sleep well, take exercise and be aware of maintaining a work-life balance. Modern life works against consistent wellbeing. There is always so much to do and we end up skipping on healthy food and sleep. This post is just a little reminder to honour your wonderful body that works so well for you every day and how seeing your body as your “temple” helps you to look after yourself.

Look after yourself mentally too, not just physically. Take time out to rest your mind and gain perspective. When we overload our minds, the stress can begin to show physically – mind and body are inextricably interlinked.

You’re a grown up now and you’re on your own. You owe it to yourself to celebrate the best you possible and look after yourself…
