I don’t know about you, but I find that life seems to be getting busier and more fast paced. I never seem to have enough time in the day to accomplish all my tasks. Invariably, my “to do” list items end up being transferred over and over again to tomorrow’s list. I never quite seem to have an ’empty list day’. If this is the same for you, I’m sure you too will feel exhausted at times, as if life is passing you by with very little ‘me time’. There seems to be less time for loved ones too. I am guilty of rushing my son to finish what he is saying so that I can continue attending to my never-ending “to do” list. I have dear friends whom I have not seen in months. What is going on?
We all have to make time for family and friends. The more we put into our relationships with our children, siblings, parents and friends – the more we get out of them.My happiest moments in life are when I feel connected to others – laughing with a friend or sharing a silly joke with my son. This feeling of connectedness is what keeps us alive and motivated.
The busier life gets, the better we become at making excuses, processing guilt and moving further away from our social circle. Your time and attention is appreciated by others more than you know. Give up time willingly to connect with others and slow down, take time out from your busy schedule. The busier we become, the more out-of-kilter we become in life. See taking time out as a way of redressing the balance and slowing your life down a little. I used to work in care homes for the elderly and never once did I see photos in their rooms of their cars, houses, degree certificates or work related stuff. All that was displayed was pictures of family, friends and pets…the important things in life.
