Testing your mettle

What was the worst time in your life? I can think of two in my life. I am currently going through the second one (both involving relationships..sigh) …and it got me thinking about testing your mettle.

How did you fare? Did you crawl up in a ball or did you manage to get through the days? We often cope far better than we anticipate. Anxiety comes from overestimating the threat and underestimating our ability to cope. Keep facing your fears. When you avoid, you allow the fearful thoughts to take hold and they don’t get challenged. And what happens? The fear remains.

Feel the fear and do it anyway. Stop being afraid of life. Make the most of it – be brave. Talk to strangers, wear odd clothes, do what you want.

We’re all so suppressed in society, caring too much about what others think. It inhibits your life when you care too much about what others think.

Test your mettle by being true to yourself. Push your boundaries and push fear down. It’s only your thoughts telling you something is impossible or you won’t be up for it. Try anyway, see failure and rejection as proof that you are pushing yourself.
