It’s incredibly important to be clear about your opinions, grounded in your own sense of identity and assertive enough to be true to you in order to be less swayed by others and what they think of you. It is also essential to think for ourselves as we are more likely to weigh up new information and decide for ourselves rather than agreeing with the majority.

We are all vulnerable inside and prone to self doubt. It pays to be sure of who we are and what we stand for as this creates buffers that protect us from rejection and the harsh reality of the world. We all want to be loved and accepted but it should not be at any cost..as in  “I will be whatever you want me to be”.

Being different and not following the crowd takes courage. It is much easier to blend in and go with the flow. Truly successful people aren’t rejected though, instead they are respected for being true to themselves and for going against the grain. We all tend to admire those people that are brave enough to say what they are thinking even when there might be major opposition to what they have to say. Often we listen silently wishing we had that same confidence.

Don’t believe everything you read in the newspapers and magazines. When in doubt, do your own research. We have more information at our fingertips than ever before and there is no excuse for ignorance these days.

Think for yourself. Decide for yourself and see the world with fresh eyes.
