I get to witness the ‘underbelly’ of life. I see people’s weaknesses and fears. Their innermost worries and what causes anxiety and fear for them. I have learned that everyone, no matter who they are, has problems of some sort.
No one escapes death, rejection, fear, overcrowding, humiliation, being judged, loneliness, self doubt, confusion, sadness etc
What we all try to do though is hide what lies beneath from others. There is this pressure to appear in control when the reality is that very few people are.
Most of us are just bumbling along hoping for the best. Life on the surface can be very fake and superficial and this lures us into a false reality, thinking that we are the odd ones out. That we are the only ones with issues and that everyone else has a perfect life. That we are the misfits while everyone else seems so together, in control and confident – don’t buy into this…it’s nonsense!
This is SO not the case. Everyone has their own cross to bear. People hide their inner fears as they don’t want to judged as inferior. The more you accept and like yourself, the easier it is to open up about what lies beneath and it can be a real relief to be able to talk and connect with others about the same life issues. When you do open up, you’ll be amazed at how many others share your experiences.
Reach out, don’t pretend to be someone you’re not. We are all vulnerable at times and it can be a strength to be able to identify when we need to ask for help.
