What is success to you? Do you see yourself as successful? If you do…why is this? If you don’t…What are the reasons? Success means different things to different people. To many, success is financial freedom. Sure, this is definitely a big help in the happiness stakes and can help influence our ideas of success, but is it true success? The thing is, having money doesn’t mean that you will be happy.
Ultimately, I think that true success is peace of mind. When you have peace of mind, you feel less anxious about the world, you don’t harbour angry jealousy towards others. Peace of mind means you are happy in your own skin – this is success to me.
If you are happy in your own skin, you take that state with you no matter what your circumstances. When you see success as some kind of outer quality/accomplishment, it becomes conditional.
I find it hard to see a person with all the trappings of materialistic success who is miserable as a success.
Many people with money end up more worried when they have money. They worry who their real friends are, they worry about losing their fortune. Money has a downside even if it has it’s major advantages.
Cultivate contentment and a peace of mind. When you have this inner state of tranquility, you can trascend the petty drama of life to a greater degree.
